Where
how to get here
Right in the middle of everywhere!
Not only is the Mackenzie positioned in the centre of the South Island, it is also "middle earth" country where the great battle scene of Pelennor Fields in The Lord of the Rings was filmed. But it is by no means a battle to get here. In fact the Mackenzie Country is quickly and easily accessible.
Christchurch International Airport is the main gateway and you can pick up a rental car here or take daily shuttles which operate into the region.
